I was sad to hear about the passing of the Champ this past June 3, 2016. Being a fighter myself, I can't begin to speak on how influential Ali was to me in my life, He was truly unique, there will never be another like him. Below is a quick painterly sketch of the G.O.A.T. ( Greatest Of All Time ) you can read up on Ali in this wiki article, HERE. May GOD rest his soul. Thanks for stopping by , Enjoy !!!!!!

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, The Iron Man
Here goes a quick caricature study of Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Tony Stark of Marvel Comics Iron-Man comics. So far Robert Downey has played Iron-Man in 3 Iron-Man films, The Avengers 1 & 2, Captain America Civil war, and several cameo appearances in other Marvel Movies. I decided to leave this one loose and unfinished, just because I liked the way it looked this way and felt like it was done for now. Thanks for stopping by, Enjoy !!!!!

R.I.P. Prince
I'm Still kind of shocked at the news about the passing of Prince. Prince was an extraordinary talent in my opinion and will be greatly missed by all of his fans. He has always been a fun subject for me to caricature because of his many different looks and wardrobe choices. I loved that he fought hard for creator rights, a battle that artist should always continue to bring awareness to. Below is another caricature I did of Prince from the Purple Rain album cover and movie poster. My condolences to his family , friends , and fans the world over. Rest In Peace Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016). Thanks for stopping by, Enjoy!!!!!!

Spawn
I recently completed this Spawn commission piece for a friend and fellow tattoo artist (huge Spawn fan). For those that may not know, Spawn is a fictional character, an anti-hero that appears in
a monthly comic book of the same name published by Image Comics as well as
annual compilations, mini-series specials written by guest authors and artists
and numerous cross-over story-lines in other comic books. Created by
writer/artist Todd McFarlane, the character first appeared in Spawn #1 (May
1992). Spawn was ranked 60th on Wizard magazine's list of the Top 200 Comic
Book Characters of All Time, 50th on Empire magazine's list of The 50 Greatest
Comic Book Characters and 36th on IGN's 2011 Top 100 Comic Book Heroes. I believe I have the first 50 or so issues all bagged and boarded and then a bunch of other issues that I picked up throughout the years. Being a fan myself (not as big of a fan as my friend), this was a fun project for me to work on. Below is the finished piece followed by a few progress shots. Also if you haven't had the chance yet, head on over to the Threadless site and vote for my Heavy Metal magazine cover submission, there is only 3 days left to vote. Score my image HERE. Thanks for stopping by, Enjoy !!!!

Orangutan
I had a good time painting this Orangutan and playing around with different textured brushes. After seeing the trailer for the new Jungle Book movie I felt like painting this guy. I find it funny that actor Christopher Walken is the voice of king Louie. The character Maurice from The Planet Of The Apes was also one of my favorites. In other news, I entered a Heavy Magazine cover contest recently. If you have a chance please vote for my image, which I have attached below and help spread the word for me. You can vote HERE. There is only 5 days left to vote for me, so make sure and head on over. The image I submitted to the contest is below also. Thanks for stopping by Enjoy !!!!

Bruce Lee
Here is another Bruce Lee caricature I did. A good excuse to try out some new textured brushes I am messing with. I really like the Impasto effect that they are achieving. I decided to keep this loose and not over render. I like the loose painterly style. Below is a work in progress shot with a bit of a close up to show off some of the brush strokes. Prints available Here. Thank for stopping by, Enjoy !!!!

The Joker on a Honda Hood
A good friend of mine recently got my caricature of heath Ledger as the Joker on the hood of his car. It's pretty cool to see my art this way, I think it looks great. The guys that did the work are located in Birmingham, the company is called Sign Source and you can check out their website here. My friend Shane is a talented musician that specializes in producing beats for just about any genre of music. You can check him out on his facebook page, Hitman 205 Productions here. Below are a few pics of the car hood with my painting next to it. thanks for stopping by, Enjoy !!!!

Art Dump
So I know the title of this blog is DARAF's Daily Doodles, but I don't post here daily, nor are the post always doodles. I do however sketch, doodle and experiment with my art on a daily basis. Here are a bunch of the sketches (not all of them) and experimental art studies that I do on a daily basis. Some here are done in Mischief , some painted with my finger on my Samsung galaxy tablet (using the Sketchbook App) and others in ZBrush and rendered in Keyshot. The tiger was painted in the latest version of Corel Painter. There is also a Google Sketch up model that was blocked in quickly with the intention of drawing over the model. Thanks for stopping by, Enjoy !!!!
