Abstract Environments
Here are a series of unique environment thumbnails that I generated by using some abstract compositions as a starting point. I have fun coming up with something from the chaos of the abstract shapes. I get to generate ideas that I may not have normally come up with by letting the abstract shapes dictate the direction of the image and it's components. Below the thumbnails are the nine abstract compositions I made to paint over.
Forest Giant
This started out as a speed sculpt in z-brush 4R3 using the dynamesh feature, which I love because it allows you to free yourself of all the technical jargin, so you can just focus on your creativity. I am curently taking Michael Defeo's z-brush course on the schoolism site,
and I intend on taking Danny Williams course at Imaginarium, when I'm done, I already checked out a workshop from Danny and it was awesome, I learned tons.
Here is my forest guy, followed by a work in progress of the original sculpt.

Alien Tablet Sketch
I brought a new Wacom Bamboo stylus for my Samsung Galaxy Tablet. It has more control and pressure sensitivity than the stylus I was using (Which Wacom brand is known for, so no surprise there. Here is the first sketch I did using the Wacom bamboo stylus for touch screen devices. Kind of inspired by the 4 armed aliens of The John Carter series and movie.

Alien concepts
Here a few Alien concepts done in z-brush and photoshop. The one on the top left corner was the quick/sloppy z-brush sculpt and the rest are variations derived from the original sculpt. A nice quick way to sketch a bunch of character designs with little effort. Any one of these can be refined and taken to a polished state at this point.

Concept racers
Here are some quick abstract vehicle concepts based on the art of The Steambot Studio's Exodyssey book. The artist and Steambot are all very good. You can see the abstract shape I created in Alchemy below the concepts. I will be making slight variations to each vehicle but for now I just changed the colors and duplicated the original.

The Fighter
Christian Bale first caught the public eye at the age of 13, when he was cast in the starring role of Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun (1987). He played an English boy who is separated from his parents and subsequently finds himself lost in a Japanese internment camp during World War II. He is also notable for his role as serial killer Patrick Bateman in American Psycho (2000), and for portraying Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008) and the upcoming finale The Dark Knight Rises (2012).
In 2010, Bale portrayed Dicky Eklund in the biopic The Fighter. He received critical acclaim for his role and won several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.
About five minutes into seeing the film The Fighter, I looked at my wife and said, He better get an award for supporting actor for this. He nailed the role of Dicky in my opinion, who I met personally as a young boxer.

Artic Base Enviro concept
This is the finished piece, (or I should say more polished), of the last wip post. I started it a few years ago while watching David Levy's custom brushes tutorial from The Gnomon Workshops. It was kind of abandoned then I decided to finish it up, so here it is.

Christian Bale in The Fighter
These are some quick and dirty studies of actor Christian Bale playing ex boxer Dicky Ecklund, brother of boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward. I was able to work on all 4 versions simultaneously to get these sketches done rather quickly. I think I may take the one on the upper right to completion. I also like the one on the bottom left.

Year Of The Dragon
This being the Chinese Year of the Dragon gave me an idea for this piece. I also took some ideas from some of John Carpenters movies, specifically Big trouble in little China, and They Live. The idea of an underground world of magic and demons came from Big Trouble and the portal to take you there came from They live. I intentionally left it pretty rough, so it is still more of a painting sketch. Below, the piece is followed by some more quick thumbnail sketches done on my tablet.

Samsung Galaxy sketches
Trying to get used to my new tablet and stylus. Here are my first couple of thumbnails using the Autodesk Sketchbook pro app. It's great for doing quick sketches while your on the go. I'll be posting more of these quick sketch experiments as I do them. I want to get better at it as well, so it's an excuse to keep drawing:)

DARTH LUCAS DA WISE
George Walton Lucas, Jr. (born May 14, 1944) is an American film producer, screenwriter, director, and entrepreneur. He is the founder, chairman and chief executive of Lucasfilm. In addition, he established his own effects company, Industrial Light and Magic (ILM), to make the original Star Wars film. The company is now one of the most successful in the industry. He is best known as the creator of the space opera franchise Star Wars and the archaeologist-adventurer character Indiana Jones. He has inspired generations of artist of all genres, including myself.
Here I envision Lucas as a Sith. Perhaps he is using his "Dark Force" power to make sure you go see his films no matter how many versions are released. lol

Martin Scorsese
A caricature of one of my favorite directors, Martin Scorsese. Among my favorites Scorsese films are the team ups with actor Robert Deniro. Goodfellas, taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Cape Fear, Casino etc. His recent film Hugo was great as well. Here is my caricature followed by the reference picture.
