Happy Fourth Of July Weekend

I hope everybody has a fun and safe Independence Day. Here is a Pin-up sketch I did for My friend and fellow co-worker Robert "Bubba" Hoffman. Bubba happens to be a very talented piercer that I have the privilege of working with. I decided to do a quick paint over since we're kind of slow at the tattoo shop today. Random Doodles

A few warm up sketches and thumbnails that help me to generate ideas. On these I used Ball point pen, colored pencils, and digital painting. I may use some of these thumbnails multiple times and in many combinations.

Dead School Girl

I have been meaning to do a painting of a zombie or ghost dressed in a school girl outfit. This painting is inspired by a mix of the work of Japanese Horror directors and pin-up artist. Below is a close-up shot of the face details.

DAVE STEVENS (1955 - 2008)

I just found out that artist Dave Stevens has passed away a few days ago from complications of leukemia at the age of 52. Dave was a friend, mentor and huge inspiration to many artist the world over. Below is a tattoo I did on a fellow fan of Dave's art. This happens to be one of my favorite Betty Page pin-ups that Dave drew. As you can see, I did not do it justice. The art world lost one of it's best. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends. You will be missed greatly - Rest in Peace my friend. http://www.davestevens.com/
